Global Context

Buddhist center. 11.15.15

An understanding of different cultural contexts is essential for navigating personally and professionally in our increasingly globalized and multicultural world. Religious philosophies, ethics, and social values are a primary source of cultural norms and differences, and familiarity with different religions and cultures is a hallmark of today’s global citizen.

The Religious Studies Department offers courses on all of the major religions of our world, as well as comparative courses that examine religious philosophies and issues from a cross-cultural perspective. Our faculty include experts on the interdisciplinary study of religion in most major geographic regions, including the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and North and South America.
